If your headphones are not wireless, iPhone 7 might not be appealing to you. According to apple secret leakers, there’s a new radical design for the headphone-jack-free iPhone 7. The images of the upcoming device comes from self described “serial tech leaker” Steve Hemmerstoffer (who has a good record of accurate leaks), which appear to show a rear-facing plastic case for the iPhone 7.
According the the picture of the phone case, the areas cut out for certain ports provides an insight into what to expect from the next flagship iPhone. Two things are noticeable: there could be major changes to sound and battery size.
Headphone jack is almost certainly gone
It looks like Apple is sticking to it’s decision to ditch the headphone jack in favour using the lightning port. The lack of a headphone jack on this case further confirms that the age old connection is gradually going into extinction.
Another speaker will replace the headphone jack
The second thing that is noticeable is the possibility of having another set of speakers which will replace the abandoned headphone connector space. What this means is that we should expect improved external audio, which perhaps is a way of bridging the headphone jack to lightning port transition. It seems Apple is scaling down its improved speaker technology in the iPad Pro and using it in the iPhone 7.
But hey, this is just some exalted guess work. The iPhone 7 might not even have these features in the end so don’t come after me if the phone is entirely different from what is suggested in this piece.
